Our Story

  I love to create!!! Did I ever think I would be making candles with a background in the health industry and communications? Never dreamed of it!  While my father was an engineer instilling certain qualities in my siblings and me, my mother introduced the arts to us, and we frequented museums, galleries, exhibits, operas and symphonies. She, along with a long line of women in my family, were/are artists and their work has made an immense impression on me.  I was semi-retired when my daughter (also an artist) decided to launch a zero-waste business and wanted to provide sustainable, non-toxic, candles, so I got to work and made it my mission to create unique candles using non-toxic, sustainable materials with an artistic twist!  Did I mention I love to create? I've always loved creating and have played around with a lot of different mediums from clay, paint, and jewelry, to food and anything in-between; just don’t ask me to draw!   Candle making is a science and an art. When I began this journey, through my research I discovered that beeswax is not only sustainable and non-toxic, but also a natural air purifier (that’s part of the science). Because of my creative bug, I simply can't just pour candles with pre-blended wax and fragrances.  Each batch is a labor of love.  I begin by creating my own fragrance blends and prefer working with essential oils mixing top, middle and base notes until I find a harmonious blend,  but I also create blends using clean (non-toxic) fragrances.  I then blend my own wax (so I know exactly what's included) with no paraffin, toxins or waxes that are harmful to our health or sustainably questionable. Finally, I hand-paint most of my own vessels or create toppers to complement each fragrance. Needless to say, one reason everything is made in small batches is because I do all of the production and it's simply not possible for me to mass produce! My husband, David, and I live in Galveston and have 3 wonderful grown children,  all of whom inspire me!
